Can I make a living as a professional blogger? Can blogging give me the freedom to quit my job? Is blogging for money (vs. blogging purely about subjects I’m passionate about) a sell-out? Will I join the short but growing list of bloggers that earn over $10,000 a month in “passive” income? I’m going to find out the answers to these questions.
“Big deal! Keep dreaming,” you’re thinking. “You and half a billion of your closest friends.”
A quick Google search shows 44,200,000 hits for the term “blogging for money” as of today (June 20, 2007). I tried looking for other blogs that started out with the sole stated purpose of providing their founders with a decent living, and from what I can tell they’ve mostly fizzled within a few months. Warnings at top blog sites abound…noting how difficult it is to build a profitable blog that makes serious money. But, I’m seriously motivated, and I intend to make this work.
I invite you to watch as I build this blog and its surrounding website. As time goes on, you’ll find all sorts of my ramblings here, from military-related topics to family, finance & investing, self-development, and some of my favorite pass-times: computers & technology, music, scuba diving, running & fitness, beer & wine, and gambling (without losing!). I’ll periodically report my progress on this blog as a viable business, including how much I’ve spent and how much I’ve made (with an hourly breakdown of each), and exactly how I’ve achieved those results. Stay tuned!
Cheers,

P.S. Google search for “Zen Zoomie” today returns: “Did not match any documents”! Not too tough to improve on that I think…

Can you make money out of blogging about blogging?
Are you too low down the chain the blogging pyramid?
Do you want money? Social approval from your peers?
Key words are the key.
Keep motivated, you can do it. Think BIG.

Thanks D, this blogging stuff is tough work. But it’s very rewarding as you see the pieces begin falling together.
